1987: What's That Video?

Earlier this week, Madonna-TV's favourite website - the insanely addictive Pud Whacker's Madonna Scrapbook showed us (via Amen-Madonna Tumblr) some rare never-before-seen shots of Madonna from that most awesome of years in her career, 1987.

Two of the photos (seen above) are video stills, which have left us at Madonna-TV very very intrigued and a little excited. The question of the moment is - where are these video stills from and where's the video itself?!

While these shots seem to show Madonna at some point during the 1987 Who's That Girl World Tour, very little else can be deducted!

Madonna's hair-length suggests this is from the later stages of the tour in Europe and the video looks like it was taken at the same time as this candid photo of Madonna with tour drummer Jonathan Moffet, which itself only surfaced last year.

What was happening this day? Why were photos and video being taken and can anyone out there help fill in the missing details about this? Please contact us at Madonna-TV if you know more!!!

And on the same subject - we're still looking for someone who might have the full video of the FINAL CONCERT of the Who's That Girl tour. This pro-shot video was used throughout the official 1988 video release of the tour "Ciao Italia" (intercut with footage from Turin and Tokyo) and parts have also been used since then in Warner Music videos in 1988 and 1989.

GET IN TOUCH - IN COMPLETE CONFIDENCE - IF YOU CAN HELP!! :-)

  1. The Turin video was intercut with the Tokyo footage. I don't think it used anything from this so-called Final concert.. this may have just been the press b-roll stuff for TV stations.

I have the Tokyo show on Laserdisc :)

  2. Hey DJ Jason - there's lots of the Florence show in "Ciao Italia"! :-)

Check it out - any of the shots where she's wearing a necklace are from Florence. Her hair is different - and the best place to see it is her opening speech which is mostly from Turin, but the line "so this is my last show, so if I cry sometimes you'll understand" is from Florence (which was indeed the final show of the tour).

The full recording was kept and used for "Ciao Italia" and again for another couple of videos in the next two years. Someone out there has it... :-)

    Pud - LOVE YA!!!! xxxx

  3. Yes, thise stills are very intriguing. With so much of her dark roots showing could it be from the wrap party or something?

Hope you get the Florence footage you're waiting for!
